"Kubu Loop… rocky koppies, ravines and open grassland valleys… reliable sightings of Lion, Elephant and Black Rhino." — pilanesberggamereserve.com
The park's wildlife hub — do it in the first predator-active hours. Get out at the covered hide (one of the few legal spots to leave the car).
"Mankwe Dam is Pilanesberg's centrepiece… elephant, buffalo, lion, various antelope. Lion sightings are reliable around the Mankwe Dam area." — pilanesberg.org.za
On a koppie overlooking the dam — a legal out-of-car spot to scan the water and have coffee.
Winding roads around the dam. Always busy — giraffe, zebra, warthog, waterbuck.
Northern section, ~2–2.5 hrs. Giraffe, zebra, white rhino, jackal.
Central, near-guaranteed plains game, coffee & a leg-stretch. Good place to wait out the quiet midday hours.
Best-sightings road per the guides — wild dog pack territory, black rhino, elephant, lion. It's a haul from Bakubung; only if you've got time.
Predators re-activate late afternoon; animals gather at water. Loop back south before the 18:00 gate close.
Don't build the day around the cats. Build it around the dam & waterholes — treat a leopard as a lucky bonus.
